Halestorm + In This Moment + New Years Day @ White Oak Music Hall, Houston, TX
Houston, Texas (April 30, 2018) – On the heels of performing at Fort Rock and Welcome to Rockville, metal mavens Halestorm, In This Moment and New Years Day kicked off their tour tonight! With a combination of outstanding weather and a perfect setting alongside the Houston, TX skyline, the lawn of White Oak Music Hall made for an excellent outdoor experience for the female fronted rock bands.
New Years Day started their set with “Kill or Be Killed”. Front-woman, Ash Costello, engaged the crowd and brought them along for a ride. The Anaheim, CA band won the hearts of the Houston crowd, playing a cover of “F *****g Hostile” from Texas’s own Pantera.

New Years Day (NYD) ended their set with the hit “Defame Me” from their album, Malevolence. NYD includes, Frankie Sill (Bassist), Nikki Misery (rhythm guitar), Max Georgiev (lead guitar), and Brian Sumwalt (drums), provided the perfect transition to In This Moment.
In This Moment is known for their elaborate, theatrical performances, and this show was no different. As the show started, the stage filled with fog, and band members Chris Howorth (lead guitar), Travis Johnson (bassist), Randy Weitzel (rhythm guitar), Kent Diimmel (drums), and the dancers, The Blood Girls, took their places on stage donned in masks and robes. front-woman Maria Brink appeared through the fog in full costume and opened the show with the fan favorite “Blood”.
The Los Angeles metal band does an amazing job keeping the audience hyped up by changing their costumes throughout the whole performance. Maria sang top hits such as “Roots”, “Big Bad Wolf”, and “Sick Like Me”. The crowd also got a pleasant surprise when Costello of New Years Day appeared on stage to sing “Black Wedding” with Brink.

The show ended with the song “Whore”. Maria was perched upon a stool and had a large dunce hat atop her head that was adorned with the word “whore” in bold, red letters, and held a ruler. Massive white balloons were tossed into the crowd and passed around while fans sang along making it a perfect ending to their show.
As the sun set over the Houston skyline, the crowd readied themselves for Halestorm’s performance. The Pennsylvania-based band formed by front-woman Lzzy Hale and her brother Arejay Hale (drummer) took the stage with band members Joe Hottinger (guitar) and Josh Smith (bass).

The Grammy award-winning band played hits from all albums such as “Love Bites (So Do I)”, “Mz. Hyde”, “Familiar Taste of Poison”, and “Freak Like Me”. The show was full of guitar and drum solos from the talented band members, including front-woman, Hale.
The band performed a few covers which included Whitesnake’s “Still of the Night”. Lzzy also performed a solo cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You”. Silhouetted on stage with a grand piano, Lzzy played the piano and sang while moving white lights highlighted her, making it a calm and beautiful rendition of Adele’s popular song. The show ended with one of their earlier hits, #1 on iTunes – “I Miss the Misery”; bringing fans old and new together while singing along.
