Explosive Night of Rock: Halestorm, I Prevail, Hollywood Undead, and Fit For A King Ignite MidFlorida Amphitheatre
Tampa, FL.(August 1st 2024)
When it comes to hard rock, few bands command the stage like Halestorm. Led by the unstoppable Lzzy Hale, who reigns as the undisputed queen of the genre, the band’s live performances are nothing short of electrifying. When it was announced that Halestorm would be hitting the road with I Prevail, fans knew they were in for a night of pure, unadulterated rock fury. But the excitement didn’t stop there; the addition of Hollywood Undead and Fit For A King to the lineup promised a show that would rock hard from start to finish.
The MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre was the ideal venue for this powerhouse tour. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the anticipation in the air was nearly tangible. Fit For A King kicked off the evening with a blistering set that set a high bar for the rest of the night. Their mix of metalcore intensity and melodic hooks immediately captivated the crowd. Frontman Ryan Kirby’s commanding stage presence, coupled with bassist Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary’s gravity-defying leaps, ensured the audience was fully engaged from the very first riff. Fit For A King’s performance was a potent reminder of why they’re making waves in the hard rock scene.
Next up were Hollywood Undead, who brought their signature blend of rap-rock and alternative metal to the stage. Their set was a high-octane affair filled with crowd favorites and infectious energy, including a solid selection of tracks from their latest album, Hotel Kalifornia. The Amphitheatre was electrified as the band performed hits like “Undead” and “Riot.” A standout moment came when they invited a fan on stage to play guitar during “Comin’ In Hot.” The fan’s surprise cameo added an extra layer of excitement and showcased Hollywood Undead’s knack for interactive, crowd-pleasing moments.
As the night progressed, it was time for I Prevail to take the spotlight. Since their formation in 2013, the band has seen a meteoric rise, and with three full-length albums under their belt, there was no shortage of material to draw from. The focus of the night was their latest album, True Power, which led the way for their setlist.
When the stage lights flared to life, I Prevail wasted no time launching into “There’s Fear In Letting Go,” setting a blistering pace for their performance. They ratcheted up the energy even further with “Body Bag,” and followed up with “Bad Things,” which they dedicated to Hollywood Undead. The band’s attention to the audience was evident when they spotted a Detroit Tigers fan and dedicated “Deep End” to him. A particularly poignant moment came during “Breaking Down,” when lead singer Brian Burkheiser delivered a heartfelt speech on mental health, adding depth to their high-energy set. They closed their performance on a high note with the explosive tracks “Bow Down” and “Gasoline,” leaving the crowd exhilarated and cheering for more.
Finally, Halestorm took the stage to close out the night. As the lights dimmed and the band’s logo illuminated the stage, Lzzy Hale made a dramatic entrance, arm raised in a rock salute. The crowd erupted as she unaccompanied sang the intro to “Raise Your Horns,” setting the stage for a truly impactful opening. The band joined her, launching into a high-octane version of “I Miss The Misery,” and the energy never wavered.
They kept the momentum going with an electrifying performance of “Love Bites (So Do I),” followed by “I Get Off.” The band even threw in a surprise interlude of Heart’s classic “Crazy On You,” which added a nostalgic touch. After slowing things down with the haunting “Familiar Taste Of Poison,” the stage crew brought out four individual drums for a perfectly synchronized drum solo featuring each band member. Arjay Hale then took center stage with a stunning solo performance using giant drumsticks. The night’s set continued with blistering versions of “Mz. Hyde” and “Psycho Crazy,” before the crew brought out drinks for the band.
Lzzy Hale took a moment to thank the other bands on the bill, holding her drink high in a toast to rock music, her father (who was in attendance), and the fans. They closed the night with a powerful rendition of “The Steeple,” leaving the audience exhilarated and deeply satisfied.
In summary, the concert was a showcase of hard rock at its finest. From Fit For A King’s intense opener and Hollywood Undead’s energetic set to I Prevail’s high-impact performance and Halestorm’s commanding finale, the night was a testament to the enduring power of rock music. Fans left the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre with memories of an epic night that celebrated the best of the genre.
