Ramon de Lima Wins PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Event in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Grand Rapids, Michigan(January 29th,2022) – As the only rider to be perfect inside Van Andel Arena, Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil) won the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Tractor Supply Co. Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surging 61 positions in the world standings to No. 37 in the race for the 2022 PBR World Championship.

Lima first struck in Round 1, tying for eighth when he made the 8 aboard Hammerhead (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) for 83 points. The four-time PBR World Finals rider then continued his momentum as Championship Saturday got underway surging to third on the event leaderboard when he rode Lucas Oil’s Dirt Track Dirty (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Lucas Oil for 84.5 points. In the championship round, Lima clinched the golden finish, the second of his career on the PBR’s expansion series when he went the distance atop Game Day (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for 84.5 points. Lima’s flawless effort earned him a critical 36.5 world points. He catapulted 61 positions in the world standings, surging from No. 98 to No. 37.

Second in the Great Lake State was Brandon Davis (Cabot, Arkansas), collecting 32.5 world points. Following a 6.43-second buckoff dealt to him by Cosmic Crazy (Richard & Teri Braun/Jenkins Cattle) in Round 1, Davis was dominant on the final day of competition for the PBR Tractor Supply Co. Classic. Davis registered his first score of the tour stop when he bested Chief Wahoo (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) to tie for the Round 2 win with 85 point earning one of the 10 coveted positions in the championship round. In the finals Davis brought the near capacity crowd inside Van Andel Arena to its feet when he delivered the high-marked ride of the event,scoring 88 points on Grave Robber (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls.The 32-year-old’s runner-up effort elevated him from No. 132 to No. 46 in the world standings as he seeks his career-first qualification to the PBR World Finals at season’s end.

Mason Moody (Letcher, South Dakota) and Jake Davis (McClearly, Washington) tied for third. For South Dakota native Moody, he bookended his outing with 8-second efforts.On the spurs of an 85-point ride on High Pearl (C Check Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, Moody was unseated in Round 2, bucked off by Brindle Hurricane (Generations Pro Rodeo Inc.) in 3.45 seconds.Moody, however, was quick to reverse his fortunes, punctuating his outing in Grand Rapids with the third-best score of the championship round. The 18-year-old young gun concluded the event with an 84-point ride on White Dust (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls). Moody left Van Andel Arena having earned 14 world points and moving from No. 132 to No. 78 in the standings.

Davis also went 2-for-3, registering matching 84.5-point rides in the opening rounds of action. First riding Brindle Hurricane in Round 1, the Washington native’s second score was earned aboard High Pearl.Leading the PBR Tractor Supply Co. Classic entering the championship round, Davis’s hopes of his first career victory were dashed when he was bested by Smooth Kat (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) in 4.75 seconds.The 24-year-old earned 11.75 world points and is now ranked No. 84 in the world after beginning the event No. 132.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Casey Coulter (Kirksville, Missouri). Coulter rode Panic Button (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for 84.5 points in Round 1 and Shearing Pins (C Check Bucking Bulls) for 83.5 points in Round 2 to net 6.25 world points.

In the bull pen, Sugar Boom Boom (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G) was unrivaled, delivering the top bull score of the event. The animal athlete was marked 44.5 points in the championship round for his 2.14-second buckoff of Hunter Ball (Carsonville, Missouri).

The 2022 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour season continues on February 4-5 in North Charleston, South Carolina, and on February 5 in Lexington, Kentucky. The PBR Bad Boy Mowers Collision at The Coliseum at North Charleston Coliseum begins at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, February 4, and at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 5.
