I work: At a digital marketing agency supporting a Big Three automaker’s global websites.
I enjoy: Officiating women’s flat track roller derby. I’ve been a non-skating official with Detroit Roller Derby for 6+ years.
Goals/Dreams: My biggest dream is to be able to travel the world. Europe, Asia, Australia, South America…
Tell us about your style, and what you contribute to Splice that makes you unique:
I have pretty eclectic taste in music, so I feel like I bring an open-mindedness to the table. I’m willing to give just about anything a listen to see if I like it!
Splice (Bucket) List: The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Marilyn Manson, NIN, Guns n’ Roses, Mickey Avalon, Marillion (done!), Jack White, Eminem, George Clinton/P-Funk, McCartney, any Motown artist…
Guilty Pleasures: Being somewhat of a foodie, I’m almost embarrassed to admit my fondness for Kraft Mac n’ Cheese & Pizza Rolls!
First album I ever owned: Do I have to admit this? The soundtrack to “Grease”
My first concert was: My very first would have been Frank Zappa & the Mothers, my hippie parents took me as a kid. The first show of my choosing was my favorite band, The Rolling Stones, in Detroit 1981. I’ve seen them 10 times now, every time they’ve come to Michigan!
The last few concerts I’ve attended are: Marilyn Manson (4x), Beck, The Pixies, John 5, Wednesday 13, Nine Inch Nails, Jonathan Davis, L7
If I could have attended any concert in history, I’d go back in time and see: Toss up between Ziggy-era Bowie or The Stones circa 1972 or 1975.
Favorite non-photography activity? Roller Derby
What was the first concert you photographed? Not counting cellphone cameras or point n’ shoots, I believe the first concert I shot with an SLR was Gogol Bordello in 2007.
If you could photograph any concert in history, what would it be? Altamont
Favorite non-writing activity? Reading, listening to music, roller derby…
My favorite food is: Chocolate, the darker the better!
Five items that are always in your refrigerator: Coca-Cola, many varieties of cheeses, salsa, almond milk and, of course, leftovers!
My favorite place in the world is: Either on the shore of Lake Superior or on horseback.
When you’re not photographing great concerts, writing about them, interviewing artists, doing album reviews… what can we find you doing? Most often, you’d find me at home with Emmy, (my Siberian Husky “grandpup”), goofing around online, cooking or listening to music.
