ANN ARBOR, Mich. (October 14, 2017) – Spafford, a four-piece punk rock act hailing from Phoenix, Arizona brought their Heart of America Run, Fall 2017 Tour to Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan tonight. Opening for Spafford was Haley Jane and the Primates. After a quick set change, Spafford took over the stage. The packed house was already pumped from a stellar performance by HJATP, but Spafford, no doubt, kicked up the energy level a notch, or 20, though!
Jordan Fairless (Bass, Vocals), Red Johnson (Keys, Vocals), Brian Moss (Guitar, Vocals), Cameron Laforest (Drums, Vocals) are well-known to not be confined by any musical boundaries. They effortlessly blend an eclectic mixture of all their collective musical tastes and experience. Tonight’s two-set list consisted of:
Set 1: “America”, “Memphis in the Meantime”, “Todd’s Tots”, “Living for the City”, “Virtual Bean Dip” and “Plans”. Set 2: “Electric Taco Stand”, “Space Gadget”, “Feel Like a Stranger”, “Backdoor Funk” and “Slip and Squander”. Their encore was: “Hollywood” and “The Postman”.
“The heart of their sound is rooted in deep sonic exploration with a focus on improvisational elements. With jams stretching well beyond the typical structures of their songs, fans have flocked to their live shoes to experience the unique energy captured within each performance.” We can truly see why fans are so eager to see Spafford live. Some of their songs are so drawn out, but not in a bad way; in a way that leaves the listener eager for more, wondering what the next chord is going to be. A pleasant surprise is always right behind the last riff.
