Soul singer Leon Bridges provided us with some classic sounding tunes. From the opening number If It Feels Good (Then It Must Be), he provided a groove that many in the crowd were dancing to. He channeled his inner sixties and seventies soul singer on Mississippi Kisses and Coming Home.
It was with this difference in tempo and style that let Leon and his outstanding backup-band stand on their own at this festival.
You could easily put him in the category of a modern-day Sam Cooke or Bill Withers. With three albums to his credit, he is out in support of his latest LP Good Thing (2018) and has a solid foundation for a long career.
How great it is to see this music is still alive and kicking. Whether it was his upbeat songs or selections like the closing intimate song River, his style seemed well received by the crowd at Bourbon and Beyond.
