Rootstown, Ohio (January 13, 2018) – On this frigid and snowy night in the Northeast Ohio tundra, Jon Langston and his band took the stage at The Dusty Armadillo and set the house on FIRE!
The Dusty was filled with fans ready to stomp their boots and shake the blues away that was brought on by the awful winter weather. Excitement for the show had been building steadily as it was sold out well in advance. Demand for tickets was so high, in fact, that the Dusty established a ticket exchange page for the show on their website. When we perused the page, fans looking to buy tickets outpaced those willing to sell by a margin of roughly 3 to 1. This was an impressive feat for an up and coming country artist. But it wasn’t totally surprising, either, given the huge number of views his songs and music videos collect on YouTube.
The fun got underway when special guest Dillon Carmichael got the crowd wound up with a great set of classic country songs interspersed with a smattering of original tunes. High points of his performance included Merle Haggard’s “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink”, Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job and Shove It”, and Hank Jr’s immortal “Family Tradition”.
The Dusty literally shook when Langston and his bandmates finally took the stage for their 90-minute set. Based on the crowd’s response throughout the concert, Langston didn’t disappoint. Jon’s voice was spot on, and his band, Jon Langston (vocals), Brad Wagner (guitar, vocals), Kevin Schok (guitar, vocals), Steven DaLoche (guitar, vocals), Scott Sellers (drums, vocals, music director), was tight. Langston dedicated himself solely to the task of singing those songs the fans came to hear without picking up his guitar; but, no worries, the instrumentals were handled masterfully by his band.
Jon Langston offers country music fans a fresh and unique sound. What he does best, however, is connect with his audience. And connect he did with fan favorites including All Eyes On Us, Hammer Down, Right Girl Wrong Time and the most excellent Forever Girl. Jon’s newest release Prob’ly at a Bar was also very well received.
Jon Langston is a country music artist on the rise who’s worth watching out for. We’re thinking that his star is going to be shining bright in the constellation of top-tier country singers and songwriters in the not too distant future.
