Nashville, Tennessee – Four-time Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell and his longtime band the 400 Unit have announced new Summer 2018 tour dates bringing them to the West Coast through August and September. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Aimee Mann has been tapped as support for most of the dates. See full list below.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit recently took home two Grammy awards for Best Americana Album for their celebrated album The Nashville Sound and Best American Roots Song for the gorgeous “If We Were Vampires”. The album has received tremendous support from the press, garnering high praise that includes NPR Music, Associated Press, Rolling Stone and Noisey as well as extensive coverage from Men’s Journal, GQ, Vanity Fair, Entertainment Weekly and more. Isbell was recently featured in The New York Times Magazine and is on the current cover of Fretboard Journal. The independent album, released on Isbell’s own Southeastern Records, has gone on to sell over 150,000 copies.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit – The Nashville Sound

Jason Isbell has established a reputation for being one of his generation’s finest songwriters. Together with his mighty band the 400 Unit, which features Derry deBorja (keyboards), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass), Sadler Vaden (guitar) and Amanda Shires (fiddle), they have become one of the strongest live acts on the road today. The band continues to pack houses all over the U.S. and abroad, including 6 sold-out nights at the historic Ryman Auditorium last fall. In the last year, national television performances have included The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Austin City Limits, with featured segments on CBS This Morning, PBS Newshour, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and more. Recently the group performed an NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

If you don’t know me in person, you’d be shocked to see that I am over 6’ tall

I work: I own Splice Media Group

I enjoy: photography!

Goals/Dreams: To be the next Rolling Stone!

Niche:
Tell us about your style, and what you contribute to Splice that makes you unique
My photography style is candid. I don’t necessarily like to pose people; I much prefer the raw beauty that I can capture when the subject isn’t paying any attention to me.

Splice (Bucket) List: Adele, Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Guns n Roses, Kiss, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Def Leppard, Journey, Foreigner (again), Bob Seger, Ann Wilson (again), James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Montgomery [Gentry], Little Big Town, Kid Rock, Zac Brown Band, Greta Van Fleet, Ozzy Osbourne …. I could go on all day!

Guilty Pleasures: The Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, Jimmy Fortune, Cristy Lane, Couponing, Dr. Phil, Smoked oysters, Steak with Blue Cheese Crumbles, Chewy Brownies …

If you could photograph any concert in history, what would it be? Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty

My favorite TV show is: This is Us

Favorite food: Steak

My dream car is: Cherry Red Jeep Wrangler

An interesting fact about me that people don’t expect is: If you don’t know me in person, you’d be shocked to see that I am over 6’ tall. I have Bell’s Palsy.

When you’re not photographing great concerts, writing about them, interviewing artists, doing album reviews… what can we find you doing? Spending time with friends and family. Flying my stunt kite. Doing something crafty. Enjoying the outdoors.
