Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness + Flor + Grizfolk at The Fillmore, Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI (March 1, 2019) – It was another cold wintery day in Detroit, but fans of all ages didn’t mind waiting in line to see this highly anticipated show. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness stopped by for The Upside Down Flowers Tour with two up and coming bands Flor and Grizfolk. While it may have been a blustery day outside, it got warm quickly inside The Fillmore.

Grizfolk was the first band up and helped kick off the night. They are an up and coming band that not many may know of, but  soon everyone will know their name. This indie pop-rock band got the crowd warmed up and moving with their up-tempo combination of electronic and rock elements complimented by singer Adam Roth’s vocals. Grizfolk is not a band that you will want to miss!

Shortly after Grizfolk, Flor took the stage. Combining synth pop and indie rock, Flor grabbed the crowd’s attention right from the get go. Vocalist Zach Grace’s voice fit in perfectly with Flor’s atmospheric, upbeat music. Flor is another relatively new band and no doubt have gained tons of new fans after their performance. Along with Grizfolk, they are the perfect bands to open up for the main act, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.

After Flor, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness finally took the stage. While the bitterly cold Detroit winter has taken a toll on all of us, Andrew McMahon gave us a night of warm weather and the feel of summer because the stage set up was a pool party theme. Each member walked on stage in their summer clothes as McMahon opened the set with the song “Everything Must Go” off his new album “Upside Down Flowers.” Most, if not all the fans in the near capacity crowd at The Fillmore Detroit have been fans of Andrew McMahon since his days as the lead singer of Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin. He acknowledges this by playing some of his old songs such as “Dark Blue,” a Jack’s Mannequin song and “Punk Rock Princess” a Something Corporate song. McMahon shows love for his fans by being interactive with everyone while on stage. He’ll crowd surf, stand up by the barriers and even will take your phone and video bomb it. He shows his energetic versatility by exploring his surroundings on stage and off all while not missing a note when he sings.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness never disappoints and this tour with these two newer bands Grizfolk and Flor is already an early candidate for tour of the year. You don’t want to miss this show!
