Charlotte, North Carolina (October 15, 2019) Amon Amarth have been traveling the globe in support of their 11th studio LP Berserker released in May 2019. During their current North American headlining tour, they’ve brought along 3 fellow Swedish death metal bands to share the stage with them every night. Needless to say, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to catch this tour live in Charlotte at The Fillmore.

Starting out the show tonight was Grand Magus. Lead by founding members “Fox” and “JB”, this 3 piece band wasted no time getting this crowd riled up. While sadly not long enough, their set was packed full of hard hitting metal that will definitely leave you craving more.

Up next we had At The Gates. They came out heavy, starting the night with the title track off their current LP, To Drink From the Night Itself. By only the 2nd song of their 35 min set, multiple fans were already found surfing their way to the front of the crowd. Vocalist, Tomas Lindberg was found greeting a few as they came off the pile. The fans and band were definitely pumped through their entire set.

Following a very short break, Arch Enemy were ready to take the stage. Current vocalist, Alissa White-Gluz is an absolute powerhouse and lead long-time members through a journey spanning their full, decades long catalog to date. A few tracks from this show included “War Eternal,” “Ravenous” and “First Day in Hell”. Arch Enemy proved they’re definitely here to stay. The band finished their strong 40 min set with fan favorite “Nemesis”.

After what already seemed like a thrilling night of death metal, the seas began to part and a giant viking helmet appeared from the skies. Amon Amarth hit the stage as only they can do. Perched atop the lighted helmet is drummer, Jocke Wallgren. The remaining band members came out seconds after and were already met with a sea of fans “raising their horns”. Amon Amarth treated fans to great live versions of “Raven’s Flight”, “Crack the Sky”, “Shield Wall”, and “Fafner’s Gold” all off of their latest release. Along with various selections spanning their entire catalog.

With over 25 years and 11 full length studio albums, Amon Amarth is only getting better. Their epic stage shows are only getting bigger. They are a definite must see for everyone.
