New Politics + Plain White T’s + The Mowgli’s @ Saint Andrew’s Hall, Detroit, MI

Detroit, Michigan (December 18, 2019) – Tonight, Saint Andrew’s Hall hosted New Politics, Plain White T’s and The Mowgli’s for an epic show that was not only the final show of the 3 Dimensional Tour but their final show of the decade!

After waiting in the freezing cold for the doors of the Hall to open, it was time for the fans to flow in. Kicking off the night, The Mowgli’s took the stage. The Alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California did not fail to impress the packed room. They got the show rolling with their groovy tunes that had the entire crowd dancing inside the intimate historical venue. Once their fan favorite song “I’m Good” began the entire room sang along with smiles across their faces.

Next up was a band that needed no introduction, the Plain White T’s! After forming back in 1997, the band grew together and rose to critical acclaim in the following decade. It wasn’t until the release of their hit “Hey There Delilah,” in May, 2006 that their fame skyrocketed, culminating in July, 2007 when the single took number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. From the moment they walked on the stage to the end of their set, the sea of people were overcome with nostalgic emotions. Although just about every fan came to belt the lyrics to their early 2000 classics, they were just as prepared to sing along to the newer releases as well. The band kicked the show off with “Light Up the Room,” a song from their new album Parallel Universe, then jumped right into the throwbacks. The moment the lead guitarist and singer, Tim Lopez, took the mic to slow things down and sing 2013 hit “The Giving Tree,” everyone in the venue successfully joined in and sang word for word back to the appreciative band. To pick things up again they performed one of my personal favorites “Hate (I Really Don’t Like You),” which brought the energy back into the performance. While everyone reminisced about the past and sang out the words to “Hey There Delilah” and “Rhythm of Love,” it was very apparent it was a moment that every fan had dreamed of. Once the end of their set arrived the crowd was sad to say goodbye but ready for what was to come.

To put an exclamation the enjoyable night, it was New Politics turn to take over. From the moment they hit the stage, the crowd welcomed the band with cheers of adulation that reverberated throughout the room. The alternative rock/ pop punk band formed back in 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark and has been on a steady rise to fame since. The energy tonight was infectious and visually appreciated by the band all night long. Whether it was the stage diving and singing in the center of the crowd or backflips and throwing guitars, this was a show that no one should miss. New Politics set included some fan favorite songs such as “Ozone,” “Come Back Kid” and a very special performance of “One of Us” where the the Mowgli’s and the Plain White T’s joined forces to sing as a group to finish off the evening as well as wrap up the tour. Whether you were standing in the pit or dancing in the balcony, the band made the entire venue feel like one big happy family. New Politics included every person in the performance and made a point to make sure everyone felt included and like they belonged. By the end of the night, every fan was in denial that the show was over, but they all left either smiling or singing which in my mind calls the night a rousing success.
