Madeline Kenney + Rose Droll @ Che Café Collective, La Jolla, CA
La Jolla, California (October 21, 2018) – It was a warm Sunday night at the Che Cafe, located inside the UCSD campus in La Jolla, the evening was prepping out for a special night with two young and talented artists, Madeline Kenney promoting her new album Perfect Shapes released on October 5, 2018, and Rose Droll who is preparing for the release of her first label album Your Dog out on November 16, 2018.
The evening started with Droll accompanied only by her guitar, as if she needed anything else and quickly gathered the attention of everyone in the room. Her set list closer song “Too Damn Good To Give Up” was a good farewell to her participation at the current tour after a 3-night stay.
Shortly after Rose Droll left the stage Madeline and company came on board and things started very well with “Overhead” the track opener from Perfect Shapes, sadly, technical difficulties that started showing up after the third song became a big problem at first, but thanks to a good responding crowd and a clean slate from Madeline, the show became a nice experience with a partial band and a part solo set which ended with the crowd seating down making it a more intimate concert.
At the end, although it seemed like the night would turn into a bad evening, Madeline and her band were able to turn it into a very enjoyable indie/art rock/acoustic show, who by the face and participation of the crowd, did not mind the small bump, and that’s a pretty good thing for a newcomer.
