Clarkston,Michigan(July 6,2022)-Nine songs into the legendary Carlos Santanas performance Tuesday night at the Pine Knob Amphitheatre the Woodstock guitar hero collapsed onstage inside the sold out venue. It was a hot and humid night in the Detroit suburb and prior to his health issue the 74 year old Santana had performed some of his biggest hits to the delight of exuberant crowd. There were no apparent signs of struggle or physical issue prior to Santana sitting back on the drum riser midway through “Joy.” His collapse onstage startled fans who were there to see Santana and an earlier performance by Earth, Wind and Fire.

Santana’s wife and percussionist Cindy Blackman Santana posted Wednesday on Facebook, thanking fans for their well wishes and confirming that the singer had been diagnosed with heat exhaustion and dehydration.”It was 100 degrees on stage and 114 under the lights so that coupled with not enough water is what caused the issue. He’ll be as good as new soon,” she wrote.

Carlos Santana has postponed The Miraculous Supernatural 2020 Tour for the next six shows according to a spokesperson “out of an abundance of caution for the artist’s health.” July concerts in Noblesville, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Rogers, Arkansas; Dallas, Texas; and Woodlands, Texas, have been pushed back according to Michael Vrionis, Santana’s manager.

“Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs rest,” Vrionis said. “Doctors have recommended that Mr. Santana gets rest to recuperate fully.”

Santana commented on the page earlier Wednesday, saying “to one and all. thank you for your precious prayers. Cindy and I we are good just taking it easy. forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out. blessings and miracles to you all.”
