To start the night, Finneas took the stage. Finneas O’Connell (better known as just Finneas), and older brother to Billie Eilish, is an American singer/songwriter, actor, music producer who took his first steps into the stoplight back in 2011 when he played the role of Spencer in Columbia Pictures’ Bad Teacher. He later appeared in Season 6 (the final season) of Glee in 2015 as Alistair. His musical career began to take off after co-writing and producing viral song “ocean eyes” with his sister Billie. He continues to release his own music separate from Billie’s beginning with his first released solo single in 2016 “New Girl”. The crowd went absolutely wild once he took the stage. Singing every word to every song he played with smiles on everyones face. Even though his set was short, it was unforgettable. He included songs “College”, a fan favorite and my personal favorite “Break My Heart Again”, and his newest single released “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night”. Although the crowd was sad to see his set end, it wasn’t the last we see of him for the night.
Taking the stage next was Markus Randle, more commonly known by his stage name Childish Major. He first began to gain recognition for producing some of todays biggest artists including Future, SZA, 6lack, and J. Cole. He then released his debut solo album “WOO$AH” in December, 2017 where he began getting recognized as both a producer and an artist, and one of hip-hops rising stars. His set was everything expected and more, full of energy and an ecstatic stage presence. He made every person in the room more excited than before. His set included some of his biggest hits “Happy Birthday” featuring SZA and Isaiah Rashad, “NoEyeInTeam”, and a cover of 2018 hit song “Lucid Dreams” by Juice WRLD.
Finally, the moment everyone has been waiting for, Billie Eilish. She blew up on the internet after the release of her first single on soundcloud in 2016, “ocean eyes” co-written and produced by her brother Finneas. With now over 139 million plays on Spotify her career grew tremendously in only 2 years. Within that time she released and toured her first ep “don’t smile at me” released in August, 2017. She also released a number of singles including “bitches broken hearts”, “lovely” featuring Khalid, “you should see me in a crown”, and “when the party’s over”, and is currently working on her full album. With her lyrics speaking on true emotions and real topics, her music is relatable to just about anyone, especially todays youth generation. The lights went down and first to the stage was drummer Andrew Marshall, followed by Finneas and finally Billie. Once she took the stage there was no silencing the crowd for the rest of the show. Every person in the venue was either screaming the lyrics or just screaming in excitement. Her voice was nothing less than perfection both recorded and live. Her set included a few of my personal favorites “lovely” featuring Khalid and “hostage” and some fan favorites including “bellyache”, “when the party’s over” and “party favor” with an encore including “ocean eyes” and “COPYCAT”.
After a long night filled with impeccable talent, the show came to a close and not one person left the venue unsatisfied with any performance.
