Detroit, Michigan (June 13, 2019) – Tonight, Saint Andrew’s Hall located in downtown Detroit, MI hosted Arizona with support from Morgxn for a stop on The Find Someone Tour that was only a few tickets short from being sold-out.
Taking the stage first is Morgan Karr who goes by the stage name Morgxn (with an x). Morgxn is an American indie pop singer and songwriter originally from Nashville, TN but currently based in Los Angeles. He began gaining followers back in June, 2016 when he released his debut single “Love You With the Lights On”. In 2018, he released his single “Home” featuring Walk the Moon which made it up to #19 on Billboards Alternative Songs chart and #25 on Billboards Rock Airplay chart. On May 18, 2018 he released his first album, Vital which included a feature from the indie electronic band The Naked and Famous and a cover of “Boys Don’t Cry” originally by The Cure. On January 8, 2019 he made his National TV debut performing “Home” with Walk the Moon on Jimmy Kimmel Live! On January 25, 2019 he released the EP Vital: blue which included stripped versions of some songs off his Vital album and a new song with Nicholas Patricca. Over the past few years he has been touring, opening for a number of different artists including Skylar Grey in 2016, Phoebe Ryan in 2017, X Ambassadors in 2018, and earlier this year with Robert DeLong. When it comes to tonights performance, it is no surprise as to why he is constantly touring. His music talks about self expression, growing, and becoming who you truly are. Along with his music, Morgxn is very vocal about the LGBTQ community and is sure to be there for anyone and everyone who needs support. Throughout his set, he did not fail to make every person feel included and feel like they belonged. During some songs, his powerful vocals and emotional lyrics brought tears to the eyes of some, and during other songs the crowd was as lively as ever, jumping up and down singing along without a care in the world.
Next to take the stage is the band of the night, ARIZONA. The band, including members Zachary Charles (lead vocals), Nate Esquite (guitarist), and David Labuguen (pianist), met while attending Berklee College of Music and Emerson College. During college they were all working separately as songwriters and producers. In 2015, they began making music together in their home state of New Jersey. In 2016, ARIZONA was signed to Atlantic Records and began releasing several of singles that year including “I Was Wrong”, “Oceans Away”, and “Cross My Mind”. In 2017, they toured opening for Kevin Garett and later opened for COIN. They released their debut album on May 19, 2017 called GALLERY. In the Fall of 2017 they hit the road for their very first North American headlining tour, and in July, 2018 they released another two songs “Summer Days” and “Freaking Out”. That same month they began an arena tour opening for Panic! at the Disco. When it comes to tonight’s show, they blew the crowd away. Throughout their entire set, everyone was dancing and screaming the lyrics to every song that played with pure joy. The set list included some fan favorites like “I Was Wrong”, “Freaking Out”, their most recent single, “Find Someone”, and an emotional performance of their song “Hold The Line” that they had written with Avicii before his passing.
